Repair is usually the better first option when damage is localized and the slab is still stable. Replacement becomes more sensible when cracking, settlement, heaving, base failure or surface deterioration is widespread enough that isolated repairs will leave the main problem in place.

Choose Repair when...
- the defect is localized
- the slab is not noticeably moving
- you can live with some visual difference at the repair
Choose Replace when...
- large areas are cracked, sinking or heaving
- drainage/base failure must be corrected
- repeated repairs are accumulating without solving the underlying issue
The part people miss
Surface resurfacing only makes sense when the slab underneath is sound enough to keep. It should not be used to hide active movement or a failed base.
