The answer
Here’s what actually matters.
Two IT and network installation quotes can be far apart because the contractors may not be pricing the same preparation, materials, access, related work or completion standard—even when the headline description sounds identical.
Florida licensing boundary
Who must handle the regulated work.
Florida DBPR distinguishes wireless setup from compensated computer-network wiring: physical network wiring is licensed work, while setting up a wireless network without that wiring is treated differently. Any regulated cabling or electrical scope must be performed through the appropriately licensed contractor.

The most common reasons the numbers are different
- one proposal adds Wi-Fi hardware while another includes cabling/backhaul
- hardware specifications differ
- configuration and testing are included differently
- rack/patch-panel/labeling scope differs
- ongoing support is bundled in one price and excluded in another
A higher price is not automatically better
More money only means more value when the proposal explains what additional work, material, risk or responsibility the price actually buys.
A lower price is not automatically wrong
A contractor may genuinely be more efficient or have better buying power. The problem is a low number that depends on omitted work or unrealistic assumptions.
Bottom line
Normalize the work first. Then compare the price.
