Can new flooring go over my existing floor?
Sometimes, but it depends on the existing material, height transitions, manufacturer requirements, moisture and the condition and flatness of the substrate. The proposed installation should identify whether removal or preparation is needed.
What happens if the subfloor is damaged or uneven?
That condition can affect the finished floor and may need additional work. It should be assessed before installation; if hidden damage is discovered after removal, the options, cost and schedule should be reviewed before proceeding.
How do I choose between luxury vinyl, laminate, tile and wood?
Compare moisture exposure, traffic, comfort, appearance, maintenance, budget and manufacturer requirements—not just the plank price. Room use and the condition of the existing floor help narrow the practical choices.
How long does flooring installation take?
The schedule depends on area size, removal, subfloor preparation, layout, transitions, material availability and any product-specific acclimation or curing requirements. Ask for the expected work sequence and when rooms can be used again.
Will the quote include removal, trim and moving furniture?
Those items vary by project. Have the written scope identify demolition and disposal, furniture handling, underlayment, transitions, baseboards or shoe molding, and cleanup so you can compare proposals fairly.
